Illegal drugs are those it is illegal for you to have. Like the kind of drugs that are illegal, heroin, someone else’s prescription, or cocaine, or pot.

Abusing drugs means taking them in any manner other than the manner they are intended to be taken. Like taking 3 or 4 pain pills so you can get high.

Good Luck

if u take an illegal drug, it’s like taking weed. it doesn’t matter if u did it once, it is illegal in the united states. ( i believe california made it legal? that’s what i heard.)
but if u r abusing a drug, ur taking too much. ur overdosing, and becoming addicted. the drug can be legal, but ur abusing the amount to take.

“taking a drug” is a one time or random event.

“abusing a drug” is sending your housekeeper to the parking lot of the local Denny’s to score more oxycontin to feed your habit.

There really isn’t a significant difference but illegal is like a drug they DONT allow you to take and like abusing a drug is taking more than one when you really don’t need them. The illegal drug trade or drug trafficking is a global black market consisting of the cultivation, manufacture, distribution and sale of illegal BUT there is such thing as illegal drug abuse.. which is like
Drug abuse has a huge range of definitions related to taking a psychoactive drug or performance enhancing drug for a non-therapeutic or non-medical effect

Taking a drug could refer to a single incident. Abusing a drug can involve any drug, including legal over-the-counter or prescription drugs or alcohol. It means improper habitual or excessive use.
