How do you think drug abuse started?

I think sugar was the Gateway drug. it was not easy to come by until it was mass produced. back then it was sold for as much as drugs. and people were addicted to it. now we have a high sugar diet and are used to the affects on our bodies…… I think this is how we became addicted to other drugs…..
We started with sugar, right? then someone made cocaine and sold it as sugar. the guy had some and got high, went to the guy got more, and that led to people smoking all sorts of things. lol
not really but how do you think it happened.

i’d say caffeine… people drank coffee then people found tabacco and nicotine to enhance the effects of coffee. then someone accidently discovered how make cocaine (its a complicated process) and it escalated from there.
