He is a functional alcoholic drug addict.We have been doing this same dance for so many years! So now we came to a compromise. I live in 25 minutes away,on the water in a small place of my own. We see each other on weekends. He is not allowed to do drugs over here, but he can drink. We do this because we love each other and its the only way! We take long weekends on our Harley's in the summer. We don't date other people. My ex and I went threw all this. My husband and I split up and I don't believe there is any hope for us anymore. But I left to focus on getting clean and I've been successful! I've been clean since the end of September!! I wouldn't have been able to do it if I had the added stress of worrying about him. It's really too soon to say what's going to happen to your relationship. At the moment, that shouldn't be a concern of yours! If it's meant to be, it will be. Good luck!! Your not good material for any type of relationship at this time and would only bring the other person down with you. Build yourself up first and get your live on tract. Then find that special person and have a live with a partner in it, not a person in it with you. It is so much more fun with a partner.
