I think #3 is the most interesting. (I am most interested in the field of family therapy, so that interests me. Developmental Psychology is #1 and Sociology is #2).

So many children are abused, that it is important societally to know how that will play out in future generations!
The types of abuse are numerous, including: physical, emotional, sexual, and neglect. Each child responds differently to the abuse, so that abuse that completely destroys one child, emotionally & functionally, may hardly affect another child! The reactions to abuse also vary, from denial of it (forgetting it happened), to being angry at the parent, to copying the parent, to acting the opposite of the parent, to compensating for it another way (like becoming a workaholic), to medicating the pain with substance abuse.

There is so much to study in that topic, you could even limit it to one area, such as father incest, and that could keep you busy for a semester! Or, you could do a “survey” study, in which you cover the many areas of abuse & the many responses the victims/survivors make as they age & become parents.

Good luck!
