Why Are People So Quick to Condemn Illegal Drugs?
Question by Alex: Why are people so quick to condemn illegal drugs?
Okay so its been proven that some recreational drugs are bad for you (I believe strongly that there is a difference between “use” and “abuse”). I’m not denying this fact. But why when government officials broadcast information about the dangers and what can happen people believe it without question, yet when research and evidence shows that these substances are not as bad a previously thought, people are so reluctant to accept this. Why is this?
Adding this for the benefit of the first two respondents, my question was regarding the stigma around drug use not the bad effects. I understand that drugs have negative effects and tragedies happen. Just as alcohol does yet drinking is acceptable in moderation why not other substances proven to be eqaully bad or even in some cases better for you. Please answer the question I am asking not crap that I already know. As for drugs fuelling crime; if the drugs were regulated by the government then it wouldn’t would it? Fyi I don’t use drugs myself
