Drug Addiction: Is Nicotine Good for the Brain?

Question by Goobery: Is Nicotine good for the brain?
Okay. Obviously Cigarettes are very harmful physically to the body. But what about Nicotine alone. Other then “addiction” being the only negative factor it has mentally. Ive been reading articles that claim Nicotine is good for the brain. Just not good for the body.
Heres just one example.

Well its obvious to me that smoking cigarettes isn’t worth it just to repair a few brain cells because of how toxic they are. But what about for people who have abused other drugs and have lost large ammounts of brain cells? I’m sure nicotine can be of some use to these people. The article above clearly states that Nicotine helps repair memory. That of which both drinking alcohol and smoking weed slowly destroy. brain cells and memory.

So is Nicotine good for the brain? Thats my question. I’m not asking if its good for the body. I realize the brain is part of the body. But what im mainly saying is. Mentally, “other then addiction” because that seems to be a problem with Nicotine. Is it good for the brain? We know its bad for every other physical part of the body. But the brain itself is a whole other thing to focus on alone.

Drug Addiction: Russell Brand talks about Transcendental Meditation at Operation Warrior Wellness launch

davidlynchfoundation.org Comedian Russell Brand talks about how he is “very grateful to be involved” with the launch of David Lynch Foundation’s Operation Warrior Wellness, which offers the Transcendental Meditation technique to veterans suffering with PTSD. He discusses his own experience with TM and how it offered him “access to a deeper state of happiness” and made his “tendency towards selfishness exposed as a superficial and pointless perspective to have.” He also explains how it helped him recover from his drug addiction, saying, “my recovery is contingent upon a spiritual component.” He goes on to voice his support of TM as something that can not only benefit veterans but all human beings: “This technique is applicable to all human beings in all situations, no matter how extreme, trivial or mundane, everyone can draw from it.”
