When does a person become addicted to anything? People don’t say, “I think today I’m going to become addicted to something”! When then does addiction happen and why? Before talk about the top few, let’s address some similar attributes. Fun is the number one reason folks start experimenting. When you add the convenience factor, you have the start of trouble. Drug Addiction, in most cases, hasn’t occurred yet, but the seed has been planted. Most of these drugs can’t be purchased at your local drug store, even though a few can be with a prescription. In general, before one becomes addicted, he or she is probably testing the waters unsupervised.

Marijuana, some folks say, is not addicting. It is if the following statement is true. One main sign of drug addiction is that the person cannot live without it. This may mean, physical mental, or socially. If a person partakes in marijuana daily and it is taking away from his or her life, then they are addicted. They may be spending money that can be used otherwise, or thinking more about smoking pot than their family. This is especially true nowadays as it has become more potent than ever! It is probably the number one recreational drug, next to alcohol.

Cocaine is another addicting drug. One of the main differences between “coke” and Marijuana is that you can become hooked in a short amount of time with coke. It is a powerful stimulant which can snatch your life and leave you not even caring. It is a party drug, which makes it convenient to try. There are various ways to ingest it, some of which make it even more potent! Since it is more expensive than pot, when drug addiction occurs, the financial impact can be devastating. Users will forsake their jobs, family, and friends to support their habit. The drug gives them a false sense of reality, but this is what they live for.

Finally, prescription drugs can be addictive. Oxycotin, vicadin, and even antidepressants are dangerous, if abused. This drug addiction is the most hidden, as it can be prescribed. People have used them for years and, like most addictions, find ways to get the drugs even when the initial need is no longer there! The user can abuse the drug without detection making addiction happen easier than other drugs. This is one of the easiest ways to become addicted. Whether you abuse prescription drugs, or street drugs, the addiction to them is destructive. You may not start out thinking about addiction, but everyone who experiments should!
