Prescription Drug Abuse: Oklahoma prescription database is tool to curb drug abuse
July 1 was the fifth anniversary of the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs’ Prescription Monitoring Program that requires doctors to report heavy-duty drugs. The goal is to prevent patients from hopping from doctor to doctor and taking prescription drugs in abusive doses. Beginning Jan. 1, doctors will have to submit their prescriptions within five minutes.
