Do you know of any books, cds or magazine that may help someone get help for alcoholism.
This is for a friend not for me. He has The AA book but looking for something else maybe reflections or stories of others that have been in his situatuion

If you go to the library, I’m quite sure you will find all you need. If not try a bookstore. If you are willing to go to an AA meeting, you could buy some books there at cost and sometimes others will help you if you are a little short. I have been sober for almost 5 years now. I spent 2 years in the program and for 3 years I have been doing this on my own. I got my basics and know where they are, should I need to go back to a meeting. I don’t want to dissuade you from going by any means, this is your choice. I had to go and knew I could not get or stay sober without the foundation that AA and my sponsor had given to me. Hope this helps and I certainly wish you well.

I have a nephew that has a really bad alcohol and speed addiction. He’s been in the emergency room several times over the past two years and almost died the last time. He needs to go a rehab center, but the family can’t afford it. Does anyone know of any free rehab centers in So Cal? He lives in Victorville CA, but will travel if needed. It needs to be a place where he can stay. Out patient won’t work for him I’m afraid.

Professional opinions are urgently needed!
My friend has been suffering from insomnia for more than 8 years and has been diagnosed to have Depression in Psychiatric Specialits. However, due the the insufficient no. of sleeping spills given by the psychiatrist, he bought the over-the-counter sleeping spills namely Dopareel (but I also heard some ppl called it A.P.O). He had once been penalised for bout $ 2000 as keeping this ‘toxic’ drugs in 2007. Before the Chinese Lunar Holiday, he was caught by the ploice.and this time the case was brought to the court again. He was sent to the Lai Chi Kok Reception Center and will be staying there until 23/4 for the sake of getting the “Report”. I am not sure of what kinda the report is about. should be about whether he’s got any addiction of the drug. In addiction, he needs to consult the psychologist in late April.
The questions I wanna ask are:
1. Will the stay be prolonged in the Center?
2. How could he seek legal aids?
3. The 1st time urine analysis shows that it is PURE. and what would he be sent to the Reception Center?
4. How how probably he will be sent to the prison/ Hei Ling Chau Addiction Treatment Center?
