Question by Follow-the-narrow-gate: Drug treatment difficulties anyone?
So… I have started my second round of IOP (intensive outpatient) and I always find treatment difficult. The fact of sitting in a room full of alcoholics and addicts… who are talking about drugs (whether it is good or bad) makes me want to use even more. I am always trying to recover, but talking about drugs always makes me want to use.

Anyone else have these difficulties in treatment or in general ?

NOTE: Please do not put rude comments, because my recovery is a serious thing and you do not know me or anything about my recovery.

yea after listening to an hour or more of whining ex druggie /drinkers sob stories i need a drink. but when you talk out your problems i believe it helps.    Read more...

Question by b r i b r i :]: How do doctors know if you need antidepressants?
I’ve been seeing a therapist and I’m fairly sure that I have depression.
He’s technically only a “family and marriage counselor” and I have no idea what degrees he has. (I’m sure my mom does.)

I think medication might be of help to me, but I’m not sure.
How do doctors know if you need it or not?
&Should I say something to my therapist?

You should definitely talk to your therapist about your depression.
But in my opinion when it comes to medication, especially psychiatric meds, you should consider seeing a Clinical Psychologist or as a last resort, a Psychiatrist. They are experienced and will know if you need to take anything. regualr G.P’s are not always a good choice.    Read more...
