Question by mindfullmom: Why are so many critical of homeschooling?
I know quite a few homeschooled children. They are not sheltered from the real world. Their parents have chosed to homeschool for many reasons one of which being a better education. There have been legitimate studies done that show most homeschoole kids score higher on the SATs then their public or private school couter parts. I have also found that homeschooled kids tend to be very well-mannered and very well rounded.

I guess its because some of us have a closed window of the world and only see what we want to see in life especially different aspects of the education system.

While I agree with your points – I feel the kids miss out on life’s harder lessons. They need to deal with tough decisions, bullys, exploring, and the like. Life throws you a lot of tough curves, and building character while young helps dampen the blows. Thats my 2 cents.
