Local 7th Grade Students Made a 1,000 Paper Cranes to Morn the Cancer Death of Japanese Caused by Atomic Bomb?
Question by justice: Local 7th grade students made a 1,000 paper cranes to morn the cancer death of Japanese caused by atomic bomb?
Such exercises teach revisionist history that blames the USA for using the bomb. What about my father?
My father was in the 2nd division of the US marine corps. He saw some of the worst fighting of the war and was stationed in Nagasaki after the surrender. He would wake up screaming from the nightmares of what he had seen. When he died he had 5 unrelated forms of cancer. (colon cancer is what got him).
He did not blame the atomic bomb because he knew that if he had been part of an invasion of Japan he would not of survived.
At the time of the surrender:
Japan had over 1,000,000 men under arms.
They had held over 7,000 aircraft in reserve for the invasion.
They were preparing civilians (including children) to launch human wave attacks
They had the most advanced submarine fleet in the world.
