About How Many People Are Arrested on Marajuana Charges Each Year?

Question by Ithilrien F: About how many people are arrested on marajuana charges each year?
I’ve done a lot of searching, but people in favor of legalisation don’t tend to cite their sources, and anti-drug people are oddly evasive about the numbers. I just need a straight answer, because it’s holding me up in a school project.

Good luck finding anything official. I found a CBS article that claimed 734,000 Americans were “arrested” in 2001 for marijuana. You can find all kinds of numbers from other sources and the FBI doesn’t print totals in it UCR for drug arrests, just percentages by region.

I have arrested in parenthesis because many people just receive a citation for small amounts. Many of these cite and release encounters get reported as arrests because of the nature of the paperwork that is done by the charging agency.

Alcoholism and Drug Abuse in Athletes and High-School Students

Often referred to as a growing epidemic and yet oddly defined by most as an underrated problem by our societal standards is the issue of alcoholism in teenagers; a problem which has been developing again in the core of our youth. It is an old and ancient issue which has once again started gaining popularity among young crowds, as from the age of the Romans when alcohol was first introduced to mankind, so too with it came the foolish decisions that come with an intoxicated thought process. Out of numerous samples tested by a few prominent universities around the United States, it was found that in some instances, entire classes of students would report over 50% of them consume alcohol somewhat regularly. Below are a few situations which have been taken from actual case files, to be presented with a possible solution via available testing and knowledge, the purpose of this is to give those unfrequented with them a proper set of tools to engage this possible problem as it surfaces. It should be noted beforehand that all the methods of testing being presented are approved by the Federal Drug Administration or “FDA.” These drug tests include urine dipstrips, hair follicle testing to be sent to a laboratory, breathalysers for on-the-spot alcohol testing, and instant saliva tests.

What Can I Do to Help My Friend?

Question by Environaut: What can I do to help my friend?
My friend, who has a 3 year old, has been on a downward spiral since she “got together” with her “latest” boyfriend. He uses drugs daily, not to mention several different kind of drugs. I no longer go around her, because her boyfriend is always around, and I refuse to bring my daughter around drugs and/or drug users. My friend has had troubles controlling her anger with her daughter, i.e. yelling, spankings for things that do not deserve spankings, etc. I have never seen her “beat or abuse” her child, but I fear that it will happen. She asks for my advice all the time, but whenever I give her my advice she screams at me and says I’m putting her down or making her feel small or stupid. I have never called her stupid, but her recent behavior is just that. My friend was recently arrested for possession of marijuana and moved out of her mother’s house into her boyfriends house. I told her I can not come see her, because I don’t want to bring my daughter around him. Any advice?
Child services may become involved due to her arrest, she had her daughter in the car with her when she was arrested.

Drug Abuse: How Long Does Probation Last for Possession of Marijuana?

Question by John K.: How long does probation last for possession of marijuana?
I’m 17 years old and recently got charged with possession of marijuana. I had around 2 1/2 grams. I have no criminal record and have never had any other charges, not even a traffic ticket/violation.

I have already scheduled classes with a “drug and alcohol abuse” center thinking the court/judge would assign them to me.

I was wondering how long (if any) I would have probation for, and also whether or not this will stay on my “record” when I become an adult (age 18).
