And then I want A and B also just for the United States
Chronic thanks that was exactly what I wanted now I was wondering if anyone had a rough estimate for worldwide perhaps anything drug related just as a number.

It will be hard to get reliable statistics for the whole world since not every country tracks addictions and drug-related deaths. Also, the word “addiction” is used in many contexts. As far as the US goes:
435,000 Americans die from tobacco annually
85,000 die from alcohol (including drunk driving)
32,000 die from prescription drugs
17,000 die from illegal drugs
7,600 die from aspirin and other anti-inflammatory drugs
0 die from marijuana
These statistics are from the Journal of the American Medical Association, Jan. 19, 2005, Vol. 293, No. 3, p.298.
